DescriptionHarvey's ideal home
The Mandarin phrase “Shih Tzu” translates to “little lion” and Harvey certainly has the personality to match! Full of character, he is bound to make for a fantastic companion to understanding adopters, who can build up a bond gradually, and who could offer him a quieter home environment. In his previous home, he didn’t interact with many people and found it challenging when strangers were introduced. Due to his worries around unknown people, Harvey is seeking an adult only home, with minimal visitors. Although he is unable to live with any other pets and is happiest when keeping to himself, Harvey can walk with calm and steady dogs of a similar size to himself. His favourite places to explore are quiet walks that have lots for him to sniff, and where he can avoid the roads, as well as too many people. A garden of his own is essential and he’d love his own little den, or safe space, where he can take himself off to rest when he needs to. Harvey does have medical needs and we are happy to discuss this in more detail with his potential adopters.
Could you be Harvey's perfect match?
Once settled and a bond has been formed, Harvey’s cheeky and playful nature will begin to shine. While it is unlikely that he’ll ever be a ‘lap dog’, he does reveal his tactile side once he’s comfortable with you by brushing up against you for a gentle fuss. However, he can be more worried when it comes to ‘formal handling’ and will need to wear his muzzle as precaution when visiting the vets or when being groomed. He loves to play independently, and his favourite toys are small, soft teddies! It’s adorable to witness when watching him throw his toys around the room and chasing after them!
